CONTROLLER
This position, which reports to the Chief Financial Officer, devises and directs the financial accounting activities of all entities in the organization.
Responsibilities include:
- establish accounting procedures and reporting guidelines;
- ensure the integrity of all entities’ accounting and financial reporting;
- oversee financial reporting; and
- ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and coordination with external auditors, regulatory agencies, investment personnel, actuarial data, and tax filings.
The successful candidate will have eight to 10 years’ experience with management, accounting systems, and extensive financial reporting, with at least five years’ experience in a supervisory capacity. Must also be experienced in the preparation of NAIC annual statement and all related exhibits. Candidate must have experience in the medical professional liability field or other P&C lines.
Candidate must be a Certified Public Accountant; public accounting (audit) experience is a plus. Must also possess strong knowledge and experience with GAAP and statutory accounting knowledge and an expert level knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Experience with statutory reporting software packages is a plus.

CUSTOMER SERVICE & BILLING REPRESENTATIVE
This position, in the Accounting Department, is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of billing duties and providing professional, high-level customer service to policyholders, primarily via telephone.
Duties of this position include:
- manage invoices and notices of cancellations;
- perform daily audits on AR aging and credit balance reports;
- prepare and process refunds daily;
- prepare daily invoice reports, sorts through printed batched invoices, and prepares for delivery to mailroom;
- review billing to ensure accuracy;
- respond to incoming calls and questions;
- provide technical support to policyholders; and
- perform outbound courtesy calls to customers.
A minimum of two to three years of customer service, underwriting, or accounts receivable experience in an insurance or medical environment is preferred. Some college and/or basic insurance classes preferred.
Knowledge of basic accounting procedures, general office practices/procedures and telephone techniques is required. Must have strong organizational, problem solving, and customer service skills, the ability to communicate effectively, and work with frequent interruptions. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft applications and the use of various web-based applications for billing research/payment inquiries.

UNDERWRITER
TMLT seeks an underwriter who will be primarily responsible for the evaluation and assessment of medical professional liability risks arising from physician and ancillary staff activities. Qualified candidate will promote teamwork through leadership and motivation and deliver high quality customer service to internal and external clients.
Requirements for this position include:

- knowledge of professional liability insurance underwriting fundamentals and principles;
- strong analytical reasoning aptitude and the ability to make sound underwriting decisions under pressure, through application of underwriting guidelines and standards;
- detail-oriented nature to produce highly accurate work;
- risk analysis and selection of new and renewal physician and healthcare provider business;
- excellent organization and time-management skills;
- aptitude at developing positive working relationships and displaying a professional demeanor;
- strong professional verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate information accurately, clearly, and as intended;
- ability to excel within a team environment;
- leadership and empowerment skills;
- ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment; and
- proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.
Bachelor’s degree preferred. A minimum of three years of medical professional liability underwriting experience strongly desired. Some travel required, including overnight stays. Must obtain Texas Department of Insurance General Lines Agent License within six months of employment and is responsible for maintaining license requirements.

UNDERWRITING SERVICE SPECIALIST
This position, in the Underwriting & Business Development (UWBD) department, is responsible for assisting the UWBD team in performing a full range of clerical, organizational, and administrative functions.
Duties for this position include:
- process and prepare new business applications by utilizing the policy and procedures checklist with outlined criteria for the UWBD technicians or underwriter’s review;
- answer and assist in phone calls from policyholders requesting declaration of coverage pages and certificates of insurance for claims history;
- assist in the training of new underwriting service specialists;
- review returned mail for possible address changes, determine action needed to forward returned correspondence; and
- assist other department members with special projects as needed.
The successful candidate must possess an attention to detail when reviewing new business applications; recognize and understand the need of the applicant based on information provided; and enter data appropriately into software.
Requirement for the position include:
- strong organizational and customer service skills;
- knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel; and
- high school graduation or equivalent, with a minimum of one to two years of clerical/general office experience including customer service, preferably in an insurance or medical environment.
