Bob Fields
1945-2025 


We are sad to announce the death of Bob Fields, former CEO of TMLT. He died on January 19, 2025, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was 79.

Bob was born January 20, 1945, in Granite City, Illinois. He served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years, retiring as Captain. After his retirement from the Navy, Bob joined TMLT in 1986 as a Territorial Supervisor in the Claim Department. In 1990, he was promoted to Director of Claims. He received many promotions over the ensuing years. 

As Executive Vice President of Claim Operations, Bob worked tirelessly with TMLT and TAPA to help ensure the passage of Texas medical liability reform. He earned “recognition from the Governor of Texas and physicians everywhere for his leadership and contribution to the law's passing.” 

Bob served as CEO of TMLT from 2006 until his retirement in 2011. He will always be remembered for his storytelling, sense of humor, loyalty, and unswerving dedication to the physicians of Texas.

“Bob was truly a cornerstone of TMLT, guiding its growth and success over his 25-year career,” says Robert Donohoe, President and CEO of TMLT. “Everyone at TMLT will forever be indebted to Bob for his leadership, his integral role in building the best claims department in the MPL industry, his dedication to physicians and staff, and his tireless leadership in the fight for Texas tort reform. He was a good friend and will be greatly missed by his TMLT family.”
